Sail Menorca by Llaut
Menorca makes sense from the sea. And the llaut, that traditional Menorcan boat with noble lines and crafted wood, is the most authentic way to explore it. Renting a llaut in Menorca means sailing as the island's fishermen have done for generations: respecting the wind, knowing the coves, and keeping that unhurried rhythm that connects with the Mediterranean essence. From Maó to Ciutadella, passing through Cala Macarella, Cala Turqueta, Algaiarens and Cap de Cavalleria, every corner reveals its true character when discovered from the deck.
Everything Included in Every Trip
Each rental includes a professional local skipper who knows the best anchorages, the currents and where to shelter from the tramontana wind. Fuel, insurance, cleaning and personalized route are on us. Most boats come with a cooler stocked with drinks, snorkeling gear and everything needed for a day on the water. You set the pace: whether you prefer exploring several coves, anchoring at Macarelleta or reaching the virgin beaches of the north, we adapt. Operators like Girbau, Marama or Tempo Boats guarantee quality experiences with crews who live the sea every day.
Favorite Llaut Routes Around Menorca
- Cala Macarella and Macarelleta: Menorca's postcard images. White sand, pines reaching down to the water and that impossible blue. Macarelleta, more intimate and protected, is perfect for anchoring.
- Cala Turqueta and Cala Mitjana: Virgin coves with crystalline waters and picture-perfect scenery. Accessible by land, but far better from the sea, without the coastal crowds.
- Algaiarens and Cala Pilar: Wild north, virgin beaches surrounded by untouched nature. Ideal for those seeking total disconnection and snorkeling in pristine waters.
- Cap de Cavalleria and Cala Morell: Spectacular cliffs, prehistoric history carved in rock and deep waters. A route with character, perfect for curious sailors.
Available Boat Types
Besides the traditional Menorcan llaut, you'll find agile motorboats and RIBs to explore multiple coves in one day, stable and spacious catamarans for groups or families, and sailboats for those who want to make sailing a complete experience. If you're unsure which vessel to choose, we'll help you find the one that best fits your plan and group size.
When to Book
Summer (June to September) is high season: calm seas, guaranteed sunshine and coves at their best. But spring and autumn offer mild temperatures, fewer people on the water and better prices. Menorca maintains its charm practically year-round thanks to its privileged climate. Book ahead in July and August; the rest of the year offers more flexibility. Weekends and llaut excursions always book up first.
